Thai Composer Wins Annapolis Competition

Narong Prangcharoen of Bangkok has won the Annapolis Charter 300 Young Composers Competition, according to the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Prangcharoen won for his nine-minute composition "Tri-Sattawat," or "Three Centuries." The composition premiered in February, when it was performed by the Annapolis orchestra. Prangcharoen will receive $5,000 and the opportunity to have the orchestra perform his work again in November.

Summer Program Teaches About Md. Colonial Life

Historic London Town and Gardens will hold four sessions of the Colonial Kids Summer Program. The week-long program is for children who have completed first through sixth grades.

Participants learn about Colonial life in Maryland through crafts, archaeology and historic preservation. The sessions will be Monday through June 20, June 23-27, July 7-11 and July 14-18.

Youth Triathlon Sunday At Truxtun Park

The Annapolis Recreation and Parks Department is hosting a youth triathlon Sunday at Truxtun Park on Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.

The swim-bike-run event is for ages 7 to 17. There also will be a family relay event.

The swim portion will take place in the Truxtun Park pool; the bike portion will go from Collision Field through Annapolis neighborhoods; and the run portion will follow trails through Truxtun Park.
