Paul Stanhope (Mr), Australia (born in
1969) Fantasia on a Theme by Vaughan Williams
After graduated the master's dgree in composition
at the University of Wollongong in 1994, he studied the PhD degree
at the University of Sydney with Peter Sculthorpe and finished in
2000. And studied at the Guildhall School of Muisc in London from
January to July 2000. Comissions, performances and recordings with
some of Australia's leading ensembles and orchestras. He is
currently teaching at MLC School in Sydney and at the Sydney
Conservatorium of Music.
Narong
Prangcharoen (Mr), Thailand (born in 1973)
Phenomenon for Orchestra Finished
the bachelor of music at the Srinakharinwirot University in 1996 and
also graduated master of fine arts in composition at the Illinois
State University in 2002. He is currently in the doctoral candidate
at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and studying
composition and conducting. He is also teaching composition and
ensemble for composer at the same University as a teaching
assistant. Many performances in Thailand and United States, and
received the Chancellor's of Non-Resident Awards and many
scholarships from the University. The commissioned work will be
premiered by the Lyrique Quintet and Thailand National Symphony
Orchestra in September 2004.
Sho Ueda
(Mr), Japan (born in 1973) Focal Distance
II Finished the master's degree in composition and
musical theory at the Tokyo College of Music, and won the third
prize of the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award in 2000. Nominated as
one of the Akutagawa Composition Award and awarded of Nagoya Award
for Cultural Promotion both in 2001. Received the Honorable Mention
of the JFC composition award and selected for the International
Gaudeamus Music Week both in 2002.
Soonjung
Suh (Mr), Korea (born in 1971) YU-HYUN for
Orchestra Born in Seoul. His music has been
performed throughout Korea under the Korean Broadcasting System by
the Pusan Philharmonic, the Seoul Symphony and so on. After
graduated at Hanyang University, he received the master of music
degree and is currently a doctoral candidate at the Manhattan School
of Music. Won the first prize in the Taegu Music Association
Competition in 1995. A winner of the Pusan Contemporary Music
Festival and premiered by the Pusan Philharmonic in 1997. Awarded
the Manhattan Prize in New York and his string quartet was performed
by the Vega Quartet in Rockport, Boston and Los Angeles. He was
invited by the MacDowell Colony as a resident composer there during
the fall 2003 season.
Marius
Baranauskas (Mr), Lithuania (born in 1978)
TALKING for Symphony Orchestra
Graduated master degree with the composition class
at the Lithuania academy of music in 2000. He is now studying PhD
studies of composition there. Participated in international
workshops for composers in Germany, France, Latvia, Holland and
Poland. His pieces has performed in festivals in Latvia, Lithuania
and Holland.
